How do I get someone mental help?

My sister is mentally messed up, I don't know what she has but she is not right, I talk to my family and they say just let it go because she has been that way a long time and we would have to take care of her if she wasn't working. She imagines things bigtime, she thinks people are after her, following her, that we do things to her, all kinds of stuff, but then she will have good behavior, especially if someone say's she needs to go to the doctor for mental help. Then she will just have a violent outburst and scream and cuss and make all these stories up about how so and so climbed on her while she was sleeping or whatever, she also will go days without bathing, also she goes up to strangers and ask to hold their child, of course they say no. She does many wierd things and imagines many things.

I assume she's over 18.  You could call Adult Protective Services (same phone number as Child Protective Services) and explain your concerns.  Based on what you have described, I think they will make an investigation and see that she gets some help.

That's sad that your family doesnt want to get her help, because they dont want to have to take care of her!! She definately sounds like she needs some serious help!! Is there anyway she can be convinced to go see a mental health professionl, other than that I don't know how else you could get her to go. I hope you can somehow get her treatment! Your sister has Paranoid Schizophrenia. My dad are suffering from this disease too. I think the only way is to take him to a mental hospital. If she is not welling to go call the local mental hospital to take her. I don't know if they welling to. Because my this also happening to my dad, he say someone is going after him, spying on him and tries to kill him. Well anyway good luck, to both of us.
