A family member needs to seek help but, won't. She is convinced she is fine and her husband is being a total enabler. He will admit she needs help but, won't help me encourage her to go. Any advice will help. Thanks

  1. its hard to get someone to get help. when i got help i sure as h**l didnt want to go. i didnt want to hear someone tell me that i had somethin gwrong with me. i am one of those people that say nothing can stop me from doing stuff but when i heard that, it came to a reality in knownig i could never join the military. so i cant do what i want ha. just try your best adn talk to her about how you just want to take her to one appointment just to talk or something. or perhaps call your doctor or her doctor, and tell them the way she acts, her behaviour and tell the doc she doesnt want help but that your  trying to convince her. he could hlep u out

  2. Depending on the person you could take some pamphlets to her house about the mental condition that you think she may have and leave them there for her to read.

You could discuss someone with similar symptoms in front of her to her husband and let him know what the disorder is...

You could talk with her about it and discuss where there may be a deviation from what normal people experience...

Or you could run around telling everyone that she is nuts which will make her definately not listen to you.

  3. This family member needs to admit she has a problem first in order for her to firstly seek & secondly receive help. Until she admits to herself she has a problem then you are fighting a loosing battle.

    Good Luck.X:-)

  4. i have read somewhere.. when a person doesn't want to seek help then don't let him.. just be there for him..
