  1. You can start the same way everyone else did, enter some amateur contests, WIN,WIN,WIN.  When you are always in the top 5 in your group/class you will be noticed by the businesses who sponsor the athletes.  Once this happens, start entering more contests and WIN,WIN,WIN.  For an Olympic hopeful, the USSA, is the National team governing body.  You can also inquire at the regional and local levels about USSA divisions.

  2. try entering some freestyle contests

  3. Being a good skier is only part of the picture. There is a lot of "who you know" as well. Ski Racers can put more stock into their plan of just winning races and working their way up the ladder. Freestyle skiers have to have connections.

It helps to know a good photographer who will get you the shots you need to submit to the magazines and companies.

It helps to know people who work at the gear companies. They are the people who get you the hook-ups.

Ski magazines get thousands of picture submissions a year. Knowing someone there who does the editing also helps get your pix published.

The bottom line is "Will you make them look good?"

  4. First off I would enter a few big contests. To get your name out there and then i would subscribe to water ski magazine and ask them they can hook u up with the latest gear and even a sponsor if your good enough. Good luck and happy Skiing!!!
