It's a new table and these are just regular marks that you wouldn't think would stain (like juice, a hot tortilla, a bit of salsa), but they do! Everything leaves an impossible stain, and I mean *everything*!! NOTHING works (not the special stuff I got at Home Depot for marble), HELP Please!!!

What's the harshest stuff I can use on it??

  1. Danger, Will Robinson!  Do not use ammonia or acetone on a real marble tabletop.  It's very porous and susceptible to stains.  Anything very acidic or alkaline (fruit juice, alcohol, lemons, etc.) will stain it.  Sealing it does give you extra time to deal with the spill, but still needs to be wiped quickly.

The best way to clean is with a damp cloth and a mild ph neutral cleaner.  If that's not working, you can purchase a marble poultice treatment at the hardware or home store (Home Depot, Loewe's, etc.) formulated to absorb stains.

PS:  I wish there was a 12-step program for natural stone owners.  I've got limestone and granite in my home, and I've had to research this more than I ever thought. lol.

  2. Don't use any harsh stuff just call a custom place that makes kitchen marble counters they will advise you properly.

So you don't ruin your marble.

  3. Step1

Wipe down marble surfaces with a damp rag and buff dry with a chamois for routine weekly cleaning.

    Step2

Use a neutral, non abrasive cleaner (such as acetone, hydrogen peroxide or clear ammonia) for tough stains.

    Step3

Apply the cleaner with a cloth and buff dry.

    Step4

After cleaning, polish marble surfaces using a marble polish containing tin oxide.

    Step5

Protect marble floors with a stone sealer, and use standard non abrasive floor cleaners to clean them.

    Step6

Place coasters under glasses and put plastic under cosmetics on marble surfaces. Use rugs to cover marble floors.

    Step7

Refer scratches of any depth to a professional.
