How do I get tar off a humans body?

My father was working and got tar on his arm and leg, and can't get it off. Also how do you get tar off clothes?

Use some charcoal starter on a dry towel or paper towel  (remember that this is flammable).  Use as little as possible, and rub it off.  Do this outside.  Then leave the paper/paper towel outside until all the charcoal fluid evaporates.  Then immediately follow with soap and water. (for your skin)

Paint thinner, turpentine, and mineral spirits will all dissolve tar.   I have used gasoline also, but it is more dangerous.
