How do I get that ring in my to-lit to go away?

Odd how Y!A detected the word "ring" in your question and directed it to Valentines Day.  It would have been better asked under Home > Home & Garden > Cleaning & Laundry

The ring is normally a build up that may be dissolved with a lite acid.  White vinegar even a bottle of cola left overnight may work wonders.

That is unless you are talking about an engagement ring or wedding band.  In which case it would be more appropriate to give it back, or even pawn it rather than try to flush it down.

Although I must admit that there may be something symbolic in that-lol

I think put lots of soap, then it will get like slippery then you can get it out. I did that and it worked.

i did that last week..just dump some clorox in there and let it set for an hour:)
