  1. what stench is it?  Be careful about putting harsh chemicals down your drain.  Bleach can be considered a harsh chemical.  Here's something I found...

  2. try running the disposal with orange peels and ice cubes for a few minutes...

if that doesn't help you may need to get a professional to clean out the drain or disposal.. usually only costs about $50 for them to come and do that service.

  3. baking soda just pour down the drain

  4. Vinegar/water and baking soda, then rinse with really hot water.   If you have a garbage disposal also grind either orange peels or lemon wedges in it.  I've done this before and it worked well for me.

  5. The smell is coming from sewer gasses entering through a dry P trap or a break in the line, if not from something in the garbage disposer.  It might also be from a clogged vent.  The vents go through the roof, and sometimes small birds or animals get trapped in there and block the gasses from leaving, while decomposing themselves.  A little investigating is necessary.  Pour water down the drain.  That is to block the sewer gasses from coming back up through the P trap, which is supposed to have water in it at all times.  If it still stinks, try cleaning the lines with baking soda, vinegar and water, including the disposer.  Scrape under the lip of the disposer with a scrubber.  You can remove the rubber flapper and scrub it.  Still stinky?  Have someone go up on the roof and investigate the vents, or into the basement or under the house for the same.  Make sure there isn't a broken sewer pipe somewhere under the house.  If you live in a row house or other shared piping, the problem may not even be in your unit.  To make sure it is the sink, put the stoppers on both sides and add water to the bowls.  If the smell goes away, then the problem is in the pipes or vents.  I had the same problem, but it turned out to be a major sewer leak in the street, so I wasn't the only one with a stinky house!  In which case, call the city maintenance crews.

  6. Here's a couple of ideas. I have the same issue and will be trying these myself. http://www.askthebuilder.com/566_Garbage... http://www.bejane.com/BJARTICLE200611299... http://www.associatedcontent.com/article...

  7. You probably have something stuck down your sink that isnt affected by baking soda and bleach. it may be best to get a professional to look at it if the products that are on the market arent working.

It could also be a problem with your drains. The sewage in your drains may be coming back up the pipe a little way as there may be a blockage preventing it from all draining properly.

It could just be stale water that is unable to get away because of where it is in your pipe. If you buy something that will prevent large objects (such as vegetable peelings) from going down the sink you should get less problems.
