For, any time I wish to get right to the desktop, I have to right-click on my task bar and click "Show the Desktop." However, at work, my computer has a "Show the Desktop" icon in the task bar.

  1. if you have the Quick Launch toolbar showing and it's still missing

    go to Start > Run

    enter

    regsvr32 /n /i:U shell32

    press OK

    that should restore it.

  2. Winkey D is the fastest, but

    1. Click Start , click Run, type notepad, and then click OK.

    2. In Notepad, type the following text on individual lines:

    [Shell]

    Command=2

    IconFile=explorer.exe,3

    [Taskbar]

    Command=ToggleDesktop

    3. On the File menu, click Save As, and then save the file to your desktop as Show Desktop.scf.

  3. Right click on start-choose properties-click the taskbar tab and click on show quick launch

    You can actually access the desktop quickly & easily by Pressing the windows button + D at the same time on your keyboard. And then to get back to the window or browser you were in before you can press

    ALT + TAB at the same time on your keyboard

    & just in case the windows button looks like a window flag and it's next to the CTRL button

  4. Right click start

    Properties

    taskbar

    click on show quick launch

  5. %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
