How do I get the smell out of my cat?

My Cat Malachi was sprayed by a skunk last night. We left him outside all night & I had to walk through waist high-brush for about a quarter of a mile to find him. When I brought him inside, I put him in my room, shut the door and called five vets. They all gave me the same recipe on how to get the smell out.

I DO NOT HAVE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE - my mother does not allow it in the house(dont know why)

But I mixed baking soda & two teaspoons of dawn soap together and washed him. I got rid of most of the smell, but there is still a bit around his right ear & down his shoulder.

I want to get rid of it today, because my mother had a baby six days ago. And the smell is making everyone sick.

Can you help, please?

I heard tomato juice (for dog and people) but call a vet and ask if that would hurt him, I think it might be OK for cats too but I think you should ask a professional. Or just ask them and when they say peroxide then say what else could work? Good luck.

This might sound crazy, but give it the same treatment as humans: a bath in tomato juice. If this doesn't work, put tomato juice in a spray-bottle and spray it --- NOT in the eyes! But after, be sure to give your cat a normal shampoo with cat shampoo. This will get rid of the tomato scent, and when she bathes herself she won't get a mouthful of tomato. [Cats hate veggies.]

Tomato Juice...its sounds crazy but it works.  It will not stain your cat and it will remove the entire skunk smell.  Just mix the juice in with some bath water and rub it into your cats fur then rinse him off well.

If you can find it locally there is an amazing product for getting rid of odors, especially skunk called OmegaZapp made by a company called NuHemp. I'm not sure what the availability would be for you but it might be worth getting and keeping on hand for a future ocurrence too.

chlorine pool. just toss it in.
