How do I get thick grease off of my stove?

The tenant who lived in my apartment before me never cleaned under the burners on the stove, so now there's really thick grease. I've tried several cleaners, but nothing works. What's an easy way to get the thick grease off?

  1. Buy a stainless steel cleaner that doesnt scratch like barkeepers friend and make a paste out of it and use a sponge to rub on...comes right off.

  2. If it's really thick it may need to be done more than once but the best thing I've found is Dow Scrubbing Bubbles. It's made for cleaning the bathroom but it works great in the kitchen, too.

  3. AJAX and scrub the mess out of it

  4. Cleaning product...lol

  5. Use water softener mixed with water, then let it sit for a few minutes. Water softener is in the laundry soap section at the grocery store.

  6. you can try a few things,

try this stovetop cleaner or something similar if you can't find this.

also you can go to the dollar store and get any degrease, leave it on for like 20 minutes and get a mr. clean magic eraser to get off.

you can find these just about anywhere:

  7. Try soaking them in hot water with lots of dishwashing liquid for awhile.  Then use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to scrub them clean.

You can buy replacements pretty inexpensively at Wal-Mart, etc.  Let your landlord know of the condition they were in and maybe he/she will reimburse you.  It might be easier to buy new ones than to fight with them.
