How do I get this Christian Fish emblem off the back of my car?

WITHOUT messing up my paint. I used to be a christian, but I am atheist now. I want this fish off my car. I already took the fish emblem off, but the sticky white material is still in the area of where the fish emblem had been. What can I use to get this off completely?

  1. There is an amazing product called "Goo Gone" that can be found in hardware and grocery stores.  Works great and won't damage the original paint.  Once you've removed the excess sticky residue, wash with warm soapy water to remove the hydrocarbons and then wax the area.  If the car is dark colored and you can still see a "shadow" of that old fish, don't worry.  In a few weeks, it will all fade to a uniform color.

WD-40 also works (slowly), but be certain to wash with soap and warm water after, then wax to protect the paint.

Edit: Do NOT scrub it with loofa or anything else that's even slightly abrasive.  Use chemistry to dissolve the residue.  All forms of "elbow grease" or mechanical scraping risk scratching the original paint.

  2. There's a product called "goo gone" you should be able to find it in most cleaning aisles

  3. Pray :P

    (sorry, couldn't help it)

Seriously though, look into solvents. Something with light alcohol in it might do the trick.

Or you could cover it up with a Darwin fish.  Or a pastafarian-fsg.

  4. Get a good car wax and rub.

  5. try asking in "cars", without specifying what the emblem was...

  6. I know someone who kept theirs on and whenever fundies sounded their horn he gave them the bird.

  7. I wouldn't bother.  I'd just put a Darwinfish on top of it.

  8. warm soapy water and a sponge, wet it and gently scrape it off, preferably with something plastic.

  9. You shouldn't have taken it off!   You could have gone to http://www.evolvefish.com and bought Darwin fish legs to add to it.

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend Goo-Gone, as i've read that it can damage your finish.  Try mixing a 1:1 solution of rubbing alcohol and water, and apply it to the sticky material.  Let it soak for a few minutes, then you can probably rub most of the stuff off with your fingers.  If there's some left, soak the end of a cloth in your alcohol solution and rub it forcefully.  Then rinse the area off with water.

  10. Fine emery around the scratch area. Then primer, then spray paint to the colour which you should be able to match, if you contact the manufacturer.

  11. WD-40.

  12. Say "hey, there's two g*y people getting married!"

  13. I respect your choice of becoming Atheist, but it's your fault you put that thing on your car.

Try to scrub it with a loofah. (or some car wax.)

    Good luck.
