  1. Are you going to be a teacher aide or just planning curriculum and nothing else? If you've never had job experience working with kids, you need to just show that you do have knowledge of education and that you make a good candidate to put it to use. If you truly "work it" at the interview, they will hire you. When I first started, I was just an aide, then went to school and got ECE units, was a head teacher blah blah blah.

If you don't get the job, I recommend volunteering in a classroom or another day care. Check your local city job site or craigslist- child care workers are needed all over for all kinds of duties.

  2. Make a great first impression.

    Dress appropriately.

Since you already have some college credit, it should be easier getting the job, but keep in mind that some day cares require 6 units of Early Childhood development, which is normally not offered in Liberal Arts/Studies.

    Good Luck

  3. dress in apropriote clothes. explain how you love working with kids. if given the opportunity explain how you plan to enrich the childs learning experience with your curriculum.

  4. When hiring, I look for a genuine person who seems to truly care for children.  I look for appropriate dress, a good role model.  I also look for experience but if you could go in prepared and know about the daycare and its procedures and policies before the interview, you could be impressive anyway.  Tell some ideas you would love to share with the children - tell the interviewer you are a fast learner and you would love to have this job.  Be honest and be yourself - and good luck.

  5. iono be really friendly?my friend was working on daycare

  6. I have been teaching preschool for ten years, but before that I was an employment consultant. Personality is the number one thing an employer is going to look for. Number two will be experience. To overcome that , try writing up a couple months of sample curriculum to show that you could do the job. There are lots of great websites with great ideas. Commit to taking some early childhood education classes at a local college while you are working, if you get the job. Be enthusiastic , warm and genuine.

    Good luck!
