Question:

How do I get this pesticide smell out of my apartment?

I recently had an infestation those swarming queen ants. While I am glad the hordes are gone, the smell of the ant killer spray I had to use on them still hangs in my bedroom. I mean I emptied 3/4 of the can in there since that was where they were crawling in. I've been airing out the room for a month, and yesterday I mopped the floor and washed the wall that had been heavily sprayed. Still the toxic smell. Any tips for getting rid of it, and any harmful residue that may remain?

  1. Try baking it off.. Turn up the heat in your room as hot as you can stand it, for about 8 hrs. Then cool it. Then heat it again. It sounds silly, but it what professionals do to eliminate odors in office bldgs.

In addition, sprinkle some carpet fresh deoderizer on carpet.

  2. I believe that activated charcoal will eliminate the odor.  Just one pin-head amount of activated charcoal has the same surface area greater than a football field.  You likely can buy it in any hardware store.
