How do I get this removed from my credit report?

I just checked my credit report and I have a medical bill from 2003 on there. The hospital used a student id to verify who I was. The problem is that, it wasn't me! I mailed them a certified letter asking them to verify the debt and all they did was send me a copy of the bill and the procedures. A debt collection company also sent me a letter saying that I owe them in regards to this debt. I don't know what to do, I live in South Carolina.

Sue the hospital.

It can not be remove from  your report for another 2 years.

You may need to get an attorney.

You can use credit repair agency to fix it - for example this one - http://freecreditreport.sinfree.net - They can clean lots of such bad stuff from your credit report - and do it much faster than yourself, so your credit will go up fast.

How do you know the hospital used a student id to verify it was you?

Most student Id's have pictures on them at least all the one's I have seen do.

Dispute the bill through the credit reporting agency, and the debt collector by certified receipt mail They have 30 days then to prove that it was you.
