How do I get this removed from my credit report?

I just checked my credit report and I have a medical bill from 2003 on there. The hospital used a student id to verify who I was. The problem is that, it wasn't me! I mailed them a certified letter asking them to verify the debt and all they did was send me a copy of the bill and the procedures. A debt collection company also sent me a letter saying that I owe them in regards to this debt. I don't know what to do, I live in South Carolina.

  1. Sue the hospital.

  2. It can not be remove from  your report for another 2 years.

You may need to get an attorney.

  3. You can use credit repair agency to fix it - for example this one - http://freecreditreport.sinfree.net - They can clean lots of such bad stuff from your credit report - and do it much faster than yourself, so your credit will go up fast.

  4. How do you know the hospital used a student id to verify it was you?

Most student Id's have pictures on them at least all the one's I have seen do.

  5. Dispute the bill through the credit reporting agency, and the debt collector by certified receipt mail They have 30 days then to prove that it was you.
