Question:

How do I get this small bug out of my ear? What could happen?

Some little but was flying around and while I was dozing off it flew up and crawled into my ear! What should I do?

  1. You can get an ear flush kit at the drug store.  You have to be careful when you do it....

    Position your head to one side and pour water or olive oil into the ear. The bug will (or should!) float to the surface and may be removed. This also applies to a live insect that enters the ear.

  3. Whoa, disclaimers, eh, Matador, must be a real doctor to be that careful. The hairs in your ear should have alerted you to the bug before it got too far, at which point you should have stuck your finger in there and smashed the bugger.  Did you try a q-tip yet?  Actually the docs I worked for always said "Never put anything smaller than your thumb in your ear", so I guess the water and floating thing from Matador will work.  I thought he was gonna tell you to pour water in one ear so it would go out the other!
