Question:

How do I get to Luquillo Beach?

I am visiting Puerto Rico this month & I am staying at one of the resorts on Condado Beach. I would like to know if their is public transportation that I can take or should I just rent a car? Or maybe you guys know of a service that will take you there for a small fee???

Take route-66, and then take 65-Infanteria road and go straight. Luquillo Beach will be on your left side, there's a lot of kioskos (fried-food-shops). The beach gets really crowded on the weekends. Route66 ends at Canovanas Oultlet Mall, there you make a right and go straight. Ask your hotel people, they should be able to help you on how to get your car rental and maps. Luquillo is nice, but the SouthWest corner is home to the best beaches, ask about those towns in that area, the only bad thing is that you'll have to drive about 2-3hrs to get there but you'll enjoy the ride, and see the real PR.

The public transportation system is really poor here.  It is possible to get it from Condado to Luquillo, but it could take you hours each way just waiting for it and at least 1 bus change.  Really a waste of precious vacation time.

Your best bet would be to just rent a car.  Then you could see a number of beaches in the same day!  You should be able to get a small car for about $30/day.

Luquillo is just  a few miles east of the rainforest.  You could take a nice drive along the coast through Pinones to go there and stop at some of those beaches.  Then after Luquillo, head to Seven Seas beach  in Fajardo  etc.

From Condado, get onto RT 26 E, to RT 66 E then turn right onto RT 3 at the Outlets. The beach is about 20 minutes down the road.
