I'm flying into Fiumicino airport in Rome and need to get to the Tiburtina train station. I know there is a train to get there but where do I pick up the train? Any chance it's near the international terminal? Any tips on getting on the train with luggage and not getting robbed?

  1. Actually this train is very dangerous,   ( I had 2 bad experience at Rome) , better  take a taxi,  of  course, even if you will take a taxi, the "taxi-man"  will rob you, with the  taximeter (anyhow), but at least  you will not loss your stuff.... from Fiumicino  normally is  around max max 40  euro, but  I'm sure as an  "foreigner" him will ask you 75 euro or more  "always is like that",  say him, that you will call the  police  (it is your  right, you will see  the taxi-man will  say you   ok ok  give me  50 !!!) remenber not more than 45 euro from  Fiumicino Airport  to center Rome

  2. I hate answer telling you everybody can steal stuff from you.

I lived in Detroit and in Rome, as all the big city there are crimes, but not at all. Just take care.

To answer your question. Taxi is expensive, an Italian can pay 75 euro........not 40.

But you can take a train near the airport, not the Leonardo Express because it stop in Termini Station but another one in the same train station in the airport. Follow the indications for train. The train for Tibutina take more time because it has more stops.

You can handle your luggage with you so no matter about it. Just take a look on them.

If you have to take another train in Tiburtina Station, this station is bigger and you'll find all the information you need.

Enjoy your trip, relax but take care.

I traveled a lot in the world and I still haven't found an honest cab driver and a safety Train Station. Rome is not different from the rest of the world.

    Enjoy your trip

  3. Just beware of your personal belongings: don't let them unattended and nothing will happen to you. Act as you know what you're doing/where you're going. I've been around for 40 years and never been robbed. Taxis are expensive and taxi drivers are more likeable to rob you (a few of them, of course, not everybody!) than real robbers, using a long way since you don't know the city.

  4. There's a direct train (line FM1) between Fiumicino Airport and Tiburtina railway station. The ticket is about 6-7 euros, and find it in kiosk, bookshops, bar.

Here find a like for more informations.

Stop the prejudice! I'm Italian, living in Italy: never stole, never been robbed!!
