  1. Apply.

  2. take amtrak to downtown LA and the metro-rail.

Don't know how close it goes to UCLA.

  3. first you can board the NCTD breeze bus 101 (note bus is a local bus which take a least 1 hour to arrive in Oceanside) to Oceanside

transit center then you can take  metrolink (or Amtrak)

train to Los Angeles, then you have a choice for a fast

way to UCLA you can catch at Alameda/Los Angeles (just

cross the street from Union station Santa Monica #10

pay the driver $1.75 +.50cent or you could get a express

day pas for $3.50) take the #10 bus to Bundy/Santa Monica

then transfer to Santa Monica #1 bus to UCLA

Note Santa Monica (Big Blue) buses do not accept Metrolink tickets or passes)

    (Metro buses do acccpect them)

an alternative is to take the Rapid 704 from the transit plaza

to westwood/Santa Monica, then any big Blue bus on Westwood to UCLA

  4. Get to the Solana Beach station (I'm assuming you can use a San Diego bus for this).  Then take Amtrak and/or Metrolink up to LA Union Station.  From there, Metro Bus 2 will take you straight to UCLA.  There are other buses too, depending on which UCLA terminal you want to go to and at what time.
