Hi I am a 16 y/o with a 2 handicap. I usually shoot around even par. I was wondering how to get to the next teir of abiltiy. I practice at my city course about 5-6 times a week and have been going to a coach now for 3 months. He has changed my swing quite a bit. I really would like to play D1 golf. My coach is the coach for a local D2 college and he said im good enough to go play there now. Average 280 off the tee ,11 gir, 27 putts, hit 80 % of fairways and get up and down a lot. I am wondering what I can do to get better.

  1. Practice, practice, practice when you get done practice somemore.

  2. I doesn't matter what you shoot when nobody is around. The point is you need to compete as much as you can.

If your city is anything like mine there will be a half dozen courses with outstanding mens clubs. Find one that doesn't have age restrictions and play EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

    Practice Practice Practice???

    I say compete compete compete!!!

    Good Luck

  3. Hey!! You are better than Tiger Woods was at 16 . Keep it up !! You have a great future. Play all the Junior tournaments and see how you stack up with them. Then tell me if your 2 handicap holds up on tournament courses.

  4. If all your info is accurate........the stat I am most interested in is ball placement from 100 yds in.     Work about 70 % on Short game.....thats where more shots are lost than any place else on the course.   spend a minimum of an hour a day putting.  You'd be amazed at how fast your scores will drop.

  5. I am also 16 and right around where you are in abilities. I've noticed that when i shoot my best rounds i dont miss putts inside 6 feet. I know that hitting it close and making birdies is the best part of shooting low rounds, but you HAVE to make those short putts. They glue the round together.

  6. First, Tiger was way better than a 2 at age 16.  I dont know what that guy is talking about.  The only secret is hard work.  You'll need to practice more than 5-6 times a week though.  The game takes a complete everyday commitment.  If you want it, you gotta go it.
