How do I get very curly hair straight and smooth?(without a flat iron)?

Okay, my friend has horribly curly hair( and she doesn't seem to notice that her hair looks.... not so pretty ( she doesn't brush it often, and it's really long, so it looks bad). I wanted to get her a flat iron, so that she can get it straight( it looks waaay better). But her hair is so curly and thick, that 30 minutes after getting it straightened it gets really frizzy and poofy. So I want to get her a shampoo or something that can get her hair straight, without damaging it, and I don't want it to be permanent( so if she doesn't like it she can stop using it) Please, help! I would really appreciate it.=)

  1. Yeahh i have the same hair and i straighten it everyday and hate it lol.

But wat i do is use a round brush and blow dry it in layers while brushing it. I would definitely get a straightner though and then she just has to touch up on the top. I would use a heat protectant before she blow dries it or straightens (I like AG's Insulate). Also getting a good straightner really helps. I use a CHI which can be kinda expensive but if you go on Ebayexpress.com you can buy a real one for cheaper from ceramichotirons4less. Its a hairstylist who gets them for whole sale and sells them.

  2. I would definitely trying straightening shampoo, along with straightening balm, or spray. If she doesn't like the flat iron idea, try a big round brush. You can straighten it by sections...but her hair may be HUGE if she does use the round brush...I would definitely try to convince her to get a straightening iron...it's the best option for super curly, thick hair. She WILL need the shampoo and straightening spray/balm...otherwise, her hair may fry at the ends with the straightner.

  3. I think I have the same hair!  First, I do not even try to straighten it on a humid or rainy day, it is useless.

    Ok, start to finish:

    1.  Shampoo and Condition (I use Pantene ProV Daily Shampoo & Conditioner for color treated hair when I am straightening my hair (even though I do not have color treated hair, this shampoo & conditioner combo provide the best results)

    2.  Get the excess water off of the hair with a towel, but do not rub hair dry

    3.  Spray Got2Be Crazy Sleek on hair, comb through

    4.  Slowly with a brush I blow dry sections bit by bit (this will take up to 30 minutes.  My hair is usually frizzy at this point, and I have to use a flat iron -- I know you said no, but it is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

    5.  (I really think a flat iron is the best for a smooth finish, and there are differences between brands.  I prefer the Conair 1.5" curling iron and flat iron in one.  I think it was about $50 at Target. I have tried other kinds and they do not work as well!)

Heat up Flat Iron.  Spray Sunsilk Thermashine Detangling Spray on small section of hair, straighten root to tip.  Repeat section by section.

    6.  My hair is often a bit dull after, so I spray Got2Be Dazzling Shine Spray after using the flat iron

    ...Good luck!
