How do I get volume in the roots of my hair?

Question

I have thick shoulder length wavyish sleek hair with a side fringe. What would be the best way of injecting some volume into the roots and messing it up a little? An example of what I'm trying to get is hair a bit like Gabriella Cilmi. It would be much appreciated if you could suggest any methods. x Thanks

I'm a huge fan of big Velcro rollers when it comes to putting volume in your hair.  Roll your hair up on big rollers when it is half dry (using your favorite product in your hair, mousse or root lift or whatever) and then either let it dry naturally or use a blowdryer.  I have baby fine hair, and I get too much lift this way sometimes!

flip your head upside down rufflle it up a little near your scalp spary in this area, let it dry, then turn head up right way =]

You could try teasing it, thats what i do, or you could get your hair cut at a salon with more layers on top

put some mousse into the wet hair and dry it with a diffuser, with a circular motion of a dryer, while holding it as close to your head as possible. Hair will literally climb up the diffuser!

Get a root lifter the brand catwalk has a great one, but I'm sure there are lot of other brands that carry this. A root lifter is amazing it gives so much volume to your hair and you don't need a ton of it.

Of Course you can use mouse and gels BUT there is another way.

Go to the store [wal mart, target etc.] and over by the flat irons there will be these other strange looking irons. Look on the box and it will say "root lifter" these will cost about $20-30 dollars. because they will last longer and are faster than gel and mouse.

Thew other solution is of course:

Gel and mouse. Look for one that has a long nozzle. It's designed to go straight to the roots. :)
