How do I give a correct answer to a question that is already resolved with wrong answers?

There was a question that says resolved about homeopathic remedies being FDA approved. All of the answers that I read said no - but in fact - homeopathic remedies are FDA approved. The person was given uninformed guesses. How does someone inform the asker or community of a more informed (correct) answer?

  1. Homeopathic remedies are considered "nutritional supplements" by FDA, and as such are not reviewed nor approved by FDA.

FDA approves drugs under the NDA (New Drug Application) process. This process is rigorous. It requires years of clinical trial data (costing many millions of dollars) that establishes that the drug is safe and effective. The application is reviewed and recommendations are made by an expert panel. Then FDA either accepts or rejects the application.

Trust me, no herb has ever gone through the NDA process.

  2. If you can't contact the relevant person by email perhaps you could ask the same question yourself and include a comment to the effect that some people seem to be under the false impression that ----------- whereas the true and correct situation is that ------------.

You could then invite people to comment on your true and correct answer as a question is supposed to be a question and simply volunteering some information is not really a question.

  3. The FDA has nothing to do with homeopathic treatments, as they are not "drugs".   Since they are essentially very expensive placebo pills, and there is by their own definition NO active ingredient in them , the FDA is not involved in regulation as they are treated as nutritional supplements.

    so YOU are incorrect

  4. Actually they are not. They don't have to go through the same testing as drugs, so they can claim anything. They are approved for consumption but not for a supplement. Read the disclaimers on their bottles, you'll see what I mean.

  5. You can't post an answer, but you can leave a comment on the answer page or just send the person a message directly.

  6. you can email the asker

  7. Copy and paste the link, ask the question again, and inform you're giving a corrected answer.

  8. On resolved questions you have the option to "comment" on them under the question. Give it a try!! inform then. You can always click on the persons profile who answered and see if he/she allows email options too.
