How do I give a wonderful hug without being "too friendly"?

I realized I made my friend very sad when I gave her one of those quick to the side kind of shoulder hugs when I left her house. How do I give a caring and thoughtful hug? Is it all right if our chests touch? I suck at giving hugs from what I've heard T_T

If your friend is the opposite s*x of you, then it is all right if your chests touch because it shows that you are a caring person and feeling guilty towards her.  However, if you are the sam s*x, then just a quick friend, you do not want to sound too g*y.  In what way that you made your friend feel sad?

I have had a man (friend) give me a sincere close hug and because of the sincerity and love, we were smushed close (I'm not small chested mind you) -- it just didn't matter. We didn't think anything of it, really. If you are mature - you can get past b***s, lol.

just hug it doesnt matter if your chests touch just make sure you let go when she does and dont hold on or you might look g*y
