Okay, so my gerbils are always really bored even though i go down to the pet shop and buy them like wooden chews and stuff they get through them really quickly so whats a cheap but longer lasting idea to stimulate them in this hot, horrible weather??

  1. Are you saving all your paper towel and toilet paper rolls, cereal boxes, snack boxes, other cardboard boxes, fast food drink holders, etc.? These are great for them. You can ask relatives and friends to save them for you, too. Also, if you have a fruit tree, such as apple, that has not been treated with any pesticides, you can cut off some branches, clean them (I think you can boil them to kill anything on it), and give it to your gerbils.

I'm lucky. My mom works at a restaurant and brings home lots of paper towel rolls for my gerbs. Maybe you could get in contact with someone who works at a restaurant and ask them to save their rolls. They're free!

  2. My gerbil LOVES paper towel roles. I buy him sometimes wooden chews also and edible logs at the pet store. But popsicle sticks and paper towel rolls are the cheapest things and the gerbils love to chew on them.

  3. well buy those big houses they say "for gerbils! Or Chinchillas!"

    they are biggg

I beleive they even have a big tiki house.

You may spend alot but its big and will last for a very very long time for just a few gerbils

  4. popsicle sticks (craft aisle)  very cheap

  5. If you have an apple tree, you can get little apple branches for them to chew on. Sorry, I don't have anymore cheep idea's. :(

  6. You can grab a stick from your yard and put it in their cage.Or try to find a wodden block like the ABC blocks that babies use. They will definitly chew on that.
