  1. I dont know much about the sand bath I have never tryed it and you shouldnt need a salt wheel unless your hamster dosnt like to drink its water but you could always buy one if you feel its nessasary best of luck Kory :)

  2. Chinchilla sand should only be used for hamsters. Do not use chinchilla dust as hamster's respiratory systems are sensitive and the dust can easily be inhaled and cause allergy.

Leave a one-inch deep ceramic dish filled with chinchilla sand in the hamster cage so that the hamster can roll on it whenever he feels like. Change the sand once a week and remove any p**p on it with the litter scooper once in two days.

Hamsters are naturally neat animals and immaculately groom themselves. They do not need bath in any way and the chinchilla sand is more for their fun to roll around with an added purpose of cleaning their fur. So a bath house is not a necesscity at all.

I have personally never used salt wheels. The reason being, hamsters in wild do not need extra salt, they normally get all their nutrition requirements from the natural food they eat in the wild which do not have added salt. I have had so many generations of hamsters and they have all lived for long ages without salt wheels. However, there are no scientific proof for or against salt wheels, hence if you feel your hamster needs it, you can go ahead and use it.

The sand is good for them, the dust is bad for them. If you don't get chinchilla sand anywhere near your pet shop, skip the idea of a bath for them until you can source the sand. The bath is not a necesscity for them and giving them dust might be more harmful in the long term.

Another option is to order online -
