How do I go about becoming a court appointted guardian for elderly in nursing homes?

  1. Typically the person has to have a need for a guardian.  At that point you file with the court, they contact any interested parties to allow them to dispute guardianship if they so wish, then if no one objects and you meet the requirements of guardianship, it will be granted.  Typically as guardian you also have to report to the court financial statements if the person is recieving any monies or benefits every six months...you have to keep records of bills and what was paid etc from those funds.
