How do I go about becoming an officer in the Air Force Reserve?

I have a bachelor's in history and an associates in business management. I graduated with a GPA of 3.8 and I am in good cardiovascular fitness (I ran 12 miles last Saturday)

  1. The Air National Guard usually appoints officers from within their enlisted ranks within a unit. This is because officers are meant to be leaders, and you must prove yourself worthy of a slot by being a good enlisted member first. This is the case in 9 of 10 officer positions, but people do get hired off the street if you are qualified, but be advised this is rare.

    Many people in the ANG have bachelors degree's and join as enlisted members. My wife has a masters and she joined in March and just graduated BMT last Friday :-). I have a BS in Engineering and am an enlisted member. Dont limit yourself to just wanting to join as an offcier, as there are a lot of awesome enlisted jobs that you would like.
