Question:

How do I go about brewing loose leaf tea without buying special teapot or strainers?

I'm interested in trying Alex Albrecht's tea blend from adagio tea (http://www.adagio.com/diggnation) and the 10$ for the actual tea is no problem whatsoever. On the other hand, I'm not sure if I'm going to want to spend money an actual teapot until I am sure I love drinking this type of tea since I've never had anything other than regular old teabag tea and am pretty broke...

So how could I give this tea justice in brewing without buying any special equipiment? Thanks xD

  1. Just brew it loose in the water and strain it!!! Strin it through a coffee filter even the thingy off the coffee pot will work, pour it through there after you cook it. I do that sometimes when I bust one of the family size bags I use. Or a metal strainer lined with a paper towel or cloth.

  2. if you have a french press for coffee that could work otherwise you could put the tea in another teabag that you empty or something

  3. a strainer or bag costs very little and reduces the mess.  if you can't afford this inexpensive tool, just brew the leaves and pour carefully.

  4. http://www.adagio.com/teaware/paper_filt...

or you can get a tea ball, from the grocery store for about the same price... they are in with the kitchen accessories... if you're using a tea ball, never use more then 1 tsp of tea at a time, as the tea needs room to expand and have the water circulate.

  5. Put it in a piece of muslin or curtain netting. Or go visit an op-shop I'm sure an old teapot wouldn't set you back more than $5.

  6. use the toe of a clean sock ??

  7. Cheese cloth would work.  But I would suggest buying something made for that
