Question:

How do I go about copying a software disk?

I have some software that I bought for my students (with special needs) to use. I don't feel safe allowing them to use the original disks as they are rarely careful. Is there a way to make a copy of the disk? If so, do I just use my cd burning software and "make an exact copy"? or is there more to it than that? Thx in advance.

  1. ok. first you put the disk in and download the software installer. then you put a blank cd in the drive. next you right click the icon on your desktop for the installer and put the pointer over send to. then you click on your drive it should be named d e or f. a window for a disk writer should pop up. follow the instructions on it and you should be good to go!!! hope this helps - spellbinder233

  2. Yes, just use your CD burner and make an exact copy.

This will work unless the CD has some sort of protection on it (it's generally only games that have this), in which case you would need more specialised software, such as CloneCD.

  3. "make an exact copy" is exactly what you need to do. If you're just creating a single copy of a disk, then it's easiest to use Disk Copy... Creating the ISO is handy  if you're burning the same CD multiple times.
