Question:

How do I go about donating an old boat?

I have a 1979 Sea Sprite 14 ft, fiberglass boat. It has a Mercury 50 outboard HP engine. I am sure the engine is good but the interior of the boat needs major work. The exterior is in fair condition. I contacted Helping Hands of America and they came out to look at it and will not take it because of its condition. I later found out that they in turn would sell my boat for their charity. I need to get rid of this boat. Who should I contact? Please help! Thanks!

  1. well you can always place an ad in your local news paper free to charity or free to any one who wants it or you could just place it in your front yard with a free sign on it. oh and if your in my town would be glad to get it off your hands for you:)

  2. http://www.boatswithcauses.org/   http://www.boatangel.org/ http://www.actiondonation.org/DonateBoat... http://www.givecars.com/charity-boat-don... hope these help. Good Luck and how nice of you!

  3. Just search "boat donations"

    Any number will pop up.

Some are more "picky" than others.

I am partial to the American Cancer Society.....hint.

Reason being the donation program is handled by volunteers within the group & more of the proceeds from the gift go to the charity.

All donated boats are sold at their own auctions or on Ebay once you transfer ownership to them.

Some require photos & an honest checklist of the boat's inventory & condition.

Some will take anything but absolute wrecks & sell the trailer (if there is one ) & motor seoparately.

To  the point , if you have no preferences as to the charity.

Pick one that will come & get it the fastest.

Other thing would be to park it near the road w/ a sign that says "free"
