  1. I simply went onto my local councils website and they gave an e'mail address to apply to.

  2. Go to you local council to find out where the allotments in your area are. Either visit the guy who runds it (usually Sunday mornings when the little sshop is open) put yourself on the waiting list. You might be lucky enough to find an allotment that doesnt have a waiting list but they have become so popular recently that I doubt it.

  3. Allotment Gardens are usually administered in UK - by an *allotment association committee* for and on behalf of a local authority.  An association is similar to a...social club.

The Assoc. all possess generic names such as: West law Allotment Association (Dundee)

The committee is usually made in this manner: President/Chairman (vice-chair) - Secretary - Treasurer - & lesser members.  Elected at an AGM by themselves and other allotment holders.  They're guided by a set of Rule which all members must adhere to.

The Secretary is normally the person to approach with an enquiry - any allotment member should b eable to identify him/her to you.

However your local auth. parks dept(?) WILL possess an updated file on the committee members

However, from my own personal experiences these committees degenerate into a quasi-dictatorship similar to a south american banana republic where nepotic loyalties rule.

Remember there's usually a lengthy waiting list.

Remember a great deal of work is necessary in order to maintain an allotment to the standards dictated to by the assoc. rules any backsliding could result in lossing the land before the first years is out.

  4. Apply at the town hall, but you will be lucky to get one, they are normally passed down from father to son .Your only problem ,if you are lucky, will be theft of your produce.
