How do I go about getting my DRIVING permit????

Question

I dont have a car permit or a license yet but thats because I just never had the money to pay it. I drive but I guess you could say I drive illegally because I drive without a permit or license. But in a little more than a year from now I will turn 18 and I dont want to spend $300+ dollars on getting my permit at such a late age when I can get my license in a little more than a year. Is there a way to just take a test and if I pass it I can get the permit? Sorry but I cant spend more than $100 dollars on this i'm a little on the poor side right now. So can someone please clear things up for me? That would be great if you could help me and thanks for your time and effort and dont forget the 10 points for best answer.

This all depends on the state you're from. Where I live, you can get a learners permit before actually driving so that your parents can teach you (They need to be in the passenger seat while you drive with that). Once you get whatever amount of hours of driving with them, you can get your permit.

However, since you're almost 18, I'm not sure how to go about getting a permit. Once you're 18 you don't need a permit or any previous training, you get pass a written exam and a driving exam (which costs a little) and then if you pass you get a permit. Look up online what the rules are in your state to see what you need to do to get a permit, since as I said every state is a bit different.

yah u can have your parents teach you and you dont have to take driving school but thats pretty much all i can remember. im getting my permit next month!! im so excited!!

I have had my permit for a year, getting my lisence today.. if you want to get your permit the best way to do it is look for an online drivers ed like i did, you can take it all in a day at the end you take a test and you print the certifications and bring it to the DMV they will make you do the DMV test and you get your permit.. the process may be different in some states, but i live in florida, and this is how I did it.
