Ive got a trapped nerve in my back.. I feel pain im my right leg like sciatica, I'm crooked, cant sand up straight, can't sleep because of the pain, find it hard to walk, stand, sit, bend, i have no position where I'm comfortable and none of the many pain killers ive been on work!

Sorry about the rant but ive had this problem for two months now and it keeps getting worse and worse, ive had physio and seen a sports ingury clinic they both advised me I have a trapped nerve but they wont know how to make it go away without scans, at the same time they say ill have to wait weeks for a scan maybe a month even though they agree im in alot of pain and need one asap so they can start making me better.

I feel that soon i wont be able to walk so i was wondering how i go about booking the scans privately and how much they are going to cost?

  1. Just look for your nearest private hospital in yellow pages (probably Nuffield or similar) phone up and make appointment.

I have done this for scans and it only takes 48 hours. You just pay on the day, you DON'T have to go through your GP, other answers which suggest that are incorrect

  2. First visit your GP who will make the introduction for you. You will have to pay a consultancy fee of approx £100 and sometimes the consultant will slot you in under the NHS. If you are treated privately the fee can be very high.

  3. get in contact with bupa -  depending on the scan you need.

last time i had an MRI it cost £550

if you try and get private medical cover now they wont insure against existing conditions.

you will pretty much be able to have your scan done within a week by going private. but the scans are not cheap
