How do I go about knowing the type of kitchen units I have in my house?

Hi,

I have moved into my new house and found that the existing kitchen only covers two walls and has a breakfast bar over the other two walls. I want to get rid of the breakfast bar and put in matching units to give us the storage space we need. The house was built in 1995 and the units are pine? with slightly curved doors and long thin silver handles. I have tried looking through web sites and have not found any joy yet. If I can find the kitchen name I can get the kitchen we need without having to do the whole kitchen again.

  1. Here are some options:

    1) Did your house come with a type of "book", usually made by the builder, with all the specs and brochures of everything that went into it?  You information would be in there.

    2) Contact the person you bought the house from.  If they built it/had a new kitchen put in, they would know at least where their cabinets came from.

    3) If you know what company built it, go to the company.  Usually, companies put all the same stuff in all of their houses to save money.  They probably have a standing agreement with a cabinet maker and could point you in their direction.

    4) If all else fails, take a cabinet door or something off the framing and take it to a local kitchen and bath store.  If the cabinets are from a specific line, they might know what it is and where to get it.

Hope you find it, it would be a waste to redo your entire kitchen if you don't have to!
