How do I go about living on a farm for about a week?

I am 21 and want to experience the farm life. I live in California but want to experience living elsewhere. I love helping others, so I figured that working on a farm would be a nice way to help out and also a great change in scenery.

If you have farms in your area go to them in person. Do not do this by phone. They will want to see who may be staying with them. Tell them your goal & see if they will let you work for free for one week in exchange for room & board.
