How do I go about moving to Australia?

My husband and I are interested in moving to Australia in the next year or two. I went to some immigration sites and it seems like you either have to have an employer sponser you or you have to have relatives there or you have to be going to school there or something. Can't you just apply for a visa because you like the country and want to be a part of it?

  1. See Immigration for Australia - http://www.immi.gov.au and see what visa you are qualifed for.

Not sure where you are at the moment, but there is an Expo for Australia coming up - "Change your life and move to Australia!  See if there is one in your country soon....

Find your job at the Opportunities Australia Expo." see details http://www.expo-australia.com  - They state job offers are made at these expos for the skilled workers and they can also fast track your applications.

Other sites for EXPO’s are “Australia Needs Skills Recruitment Expos”  - http://www.immi.gov.au/skillexpos/index....

  2. The most important requirement for immigration to Australia is that you or your husband must have skills and qualifications or experience that are needed here. Having an employer or a family member to sponsor you makes it easier, but the basic requirement is that of skills, even with a sponsor.

The occupation of one of you must be on the Skilled Occupations List (SOL): http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1121...

Your skills must be recognised here: http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/a-z.htm#a

You must also pass a points test: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-s...

And you must meet health and character requirements. See: http://www.immi.gov.au/immigration.htm for all information.

  3. Immigration is never as easy as people think it is.  You can't just say hey give me a visa and then waltz into the country.  They have to want you. You need some skill that will make Australia say "We need this person".

  4. to immigrate with out a sponsor you need to be a skilled worker in an occuapation australia needs and pass a points test

  5. Hello. How are you? I know that it is hard. There is away. I know i have helped people move into Australia. You are better a sponsor as that is the safest way. If you have a sponsor you can get in so much easier. I just hate sponsor people as i always get kicked. I am just to kind and like to see people happy. I set people up in jobs and everything. If you have things like in job skills that Australia needs well you will get in. I hope this helps and if you need any help just email me anytime.
