  1. Check out my first source for info on obtaining your credit reports from the 3 major credit bureaus.

My second source is for a new credit monitoring service from Chase bank. It's got a free 30-day trial, so you can cancel before you ever pay a dime, and you'll get access to your 3 credit reports and 3 credit scores, plus their credit monitoring services.

The first way is absolutely free, as everyone is entitled to their free credit reports, but the second is also a "free" option, which will also let you see your credit scores, which is always nice.

  2. be careful with the free credit report offer as there are catches to it, first of all for the free report they only take a few addresses if ur lucky from you plus u have got to add either a credit or debit card or direct debit to pay for future reports it also states in the small print on them that you have the right to cancel but once you get the free report for that couple of addresses they will automatically sign u in and a fee will automatically come off ur card if u do not cancel for the fee they normally send u an email for purchases that have come off ur card and alerts that purchases over a certain amount have been taken off ur bank account same if u apply for any credit purchases from shops, its therefore no good if u have moved around alot in your life, as they cannot give u an accurate report hope this helps Gilly x

  3. Before you do it, keep in mind that they are only your REPORTS.  They do not include your credit SCORE.   They're still useful, as I closed some old specialty store credit accounts using the information provided.

That said, there are a number of ways to obtain them; freecreditreport.com being one of them.

I went to each site individually and got the information.  I didn't want to get on anyone else's list.

  4. Each one of them has 1-800 numbers you can call and request your credit report. You get 1 free credit report per a year. They usually take about 6-8 weeks to get to you in the mail.

  5. look, go to a mortgage rep and tell him your looking to buy a house and he will check your credit. once he runs it he can give you a copy, depending on how u ask him, because he really doesnt have to give you a copy. just let him know that you want to fix your errors if any and youll be back in a couple of months. he wants to make a profit so you will get it. that report to me is the best report because you are looking at what everyone else will be looking at.

just keep in mind that your score will go down a little because your credit was checked, if you dont mind then do it.

    Good luck.

  6. You go to www.annualcreditreport.com  This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

This site is sponsored by Equifax, Experian & TransUnion.  Once a year you are able to obtain your credit for free.  It is a good site and regulated by the Attorney General.

  7. annualcreditreport.com

gives you your info right there on the screen. you can print it out or log in at a later date and check it, too.

also, you don't have to give a credit card for any of them. it's an offer you can sign up for, but you don't have to. i didn't and still got my reports.
