I've made several crochet baby blankets and don't know how much to sell them for. Also, I don’t know if I can lawfully sell them on the streets?

  1. I have been told that depending on the time it took to make it you either double it for small labor and triple it for larger amounts of labor.

  2. I think for street sales you would have to get a vendors license.  Check  with the city government for the information. As far as pricing  figure out the amount you paid for the material and multiply it by three.                                             Amt for material =Example  $1.00  then $3 for making it

  3. selling on the street depend on were you live, some places you have to have a vending license, other you don't. How ever if you take a look on Etsy.com (link below) you can see how other people have priced things, Etsy is also a great place to sell your creations, no vending license needed.

  4. This is a tough one because anything hand-made requires a lot of time but you have to take into account what people are prepared to pay when there is so much massed produced products coming from overseas at very low prices.

You have to consider cost of materials and then work out the amount of time it has taken to produce the piece - give yourself a realistic hourly rate - and then add a little for the fact it is a 'one-off'.

In the U.K. you have to have a street-vendors license that you can apply for through your local Council - I am sure other countries operate on the same basis.

However, have you considered a market pitch or a car boot venue?

How about approaching a shop that sells hand crafted products and see if they would be willing to sell on your behalf for a commission?

    Good luck!

By the way Yuki - thanks for the link to a most excellent site - really useful to anyone interested in all things hand-made.
