Question:

How do I go about replacing my sound port?

For a few months now my computer hasn't been producing any sound what so ever and after buying new speakers (which I originally suspected would be the problem) we found that our sound port (At least that's what I think their name is) was the problem and I need to know how to do it and roughly how much it would cost. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I just want to know if we can replace it and how much it would cost.

  1. Well I'm Pretty sure that you cant replace the on-board sound.

You have to buy a Sound Card. They are a bit expensive but thats only the extreme gaming/movie versions.

It would improve you sound compared to you old one tough. Also they usually need a PCI Express 1x or just a pci slot.

  2. you need a sound card..they come in all price ranges...
