How do I go about starting my son with home schooling?

I did call his school and they danced around the subject.

  1. The first thing you need to do is find out your state’s laws.

    Then you can choose a homeschooling method.

There is no need to contact the school board because they are public education and homeschooling is non-public education.  I contacted our school only because I wanted copies of records.  In our state, we send letter to Dept. of non-public education.  They send us a card and we start reading, writing and learning whatever we want to learn.

    Look for homeschool support groups in your area...

    Just do a search such as "mytown, mycounty homeschool support group" and you will probably find them.

    Contact them.  Get involved. Ask them questions.  They will be glad to help you.

  5. Check out www.hslda.org and see what the laws are in your state. Take it from there.
