I am looking at going to England to work for a few months. I have no idea where to start. Money isn't a problem as I am saving already. Has anyone worked overseas before? I am looking at bar work as that is what I currently do. Do I secure a job over there before I leave or look would I when i'm there?

  1. I'm assuming you're not from the EU from the wording of this. In that case, you will probably need a work permit and possibly a visa in order to legally work in the UK (there are a few limited exceptions). You need to arrange employment before you go and then wait for the work permit to be issued. You cannot apply for a work permit, the employer has to do that. The best source of information is the UK government website related to working in the UK: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/...

  2. Getting visas as I understand is very stict here because we have so many foreigners living and working here mostly from Eastern Europe. Have a look at this website http://www.workgateways.com/working-uk-v... or try the foreign and commonwealth office www.fco.gov.uk these two website may be able to help. Good luck.
