How do I hand paint a design on a t-shirt?

I have this design that I sketched in colored pencils and I want to put it on a shirt. Any ideas? I find that screenprinting might ruin the color blending.

now you can draw on the shirt ,but first you will need fabric paint and fabric markers to trace the outlines , wash the finished T.shirt inside out in cold water and hang to dry.

Go to hobby lobby or michaels and get a fabric meduim to paint on the shirt first. You can then use any craft paint to paint the shirt with. Follow the directions on the fabric medium. I believe you can heat set it after the paint has dried by putting the shirt in the dryer.
