Question:

How do I handle this info about my boss?

I'm an assistant manager and my secretary was talking to me about her date and how good he was in bed. I know for a fact that her date was my boss, the manger. She didn't know that I knew but she confirmed my fears that they are having s*x. What do I do? He is married with five children.

I am really tempted to fire her. I could find a reason unrelated to the relationship, say it was due to poor performance. I just keep thinking about my boss's poor wife.

I need some advice.

  1. My husband was in the same boat once....one of his secretarys was sleeping with his boss.  He was married (of course) and my husband really liked his wife. What did he do? Nothing...for a while. But when she began to use it as a weapon against him when it came to actions on the job (tardiness, etc.) he reminded her of company policies no matter who she was sleeping with.  He had a talk with his boss and kept it professional, explained that she was overstepping her boundaries because of the extra marital hanky panky. His boss decided to get rid of her so FAST! In another words, my husband put the ball in his court on a professional level rather than a judgemental personal one. After all, business is business and there are sexual harrassment and legal issues now that could cause alot of problems for the boss who is doing this (who is just as responsible for the mess). The girl has put herself in a bad spot and will probably loose out.

  2. The suggestion we have is avoiding to talk with her about her date. And you should be cautious in the future work.

    Lucky you.

  3. stay out of it, let him unravel himself.  He will get caught and hopefully the wife will take him to the cleaners!

  4. send an anonymous letter to his wife.

  5. You can jump into the fire or you can walk away and leave it alone. Did you tell her he is married with children? Maybe guilt her into quitting. Be careful, she might end up with your job.

I like the anonymous letter idea the best.

  6. w8 till they have another date and "accidently" run into them and then tell ur boss to give u a raise or else

  7. its none of your business.

interfere and you will get burned one way or another.

leave people to their own devices, let life deal with them individually and the consequences.  It is my opinion that you are entitled to an opinion and feelings, but not to take further action.  if it makes you uncomfortable, quit, ruin his marriage and that girls life if thats what will make you feel better.  chances are that will happen on its own without throwing yourself intot the equation.

  8. You will need to make certain that you have enough information to fire this individual.  Solid evidence that cannot be used against your company in the event that she files for unemployment or wrongful termination.  Keep it very business and document EVERYTHING.  You are in a management position so you're probably aware of the human resource issues involved. Good luck to you.
