  1. You need a stud finder ($18)  to locate the studs. Then put in a s***w there. If you want to hang the mirror in between the studs, then you have to bolt on a 2 by 4 to the studs, then s***w on the mirror to to 2 by 4.

  2. I would not recommend using any type of plastic anchor.  You need to locate a stud using either a stud finder or tapping on wall you will hear hollow and then a solid thud as you move across the wall. This is where the stud will be.  Always tap in a finish nail to make sure you hit the stud.

  3. I have used these securing devices on my wall, and have not had any trouble with something falling off the wall. But I do  try to get into at least 1 or 2 studs. When you do that you can place a board like a 1x2 and secure it to the wall and the places which you cant get to a stud, I use these fasteners which come in different weight groups.

I have secured a 125 lb. Plasma TV using this method, because the bracket for the TV weighs over 45 lbs in itself. And is secured to drywall and did not have to open the wall to do so. GOOD LUCK

  4. Biggest way to help is knowing the size of mirror, 50 lbs  6 inch by 6 inch is heavier per square inch than a 3 foot by 3 foot mirror.  The studing in your walls should be 18 inches on center.

  5. Use anchor screws - you can get them at your local hardware store - tell them what you want to do and they will direct you.

  6. Use 8mm raw plugs and 1and half inch screws

  7. I like the hooks you can just press into the sheetrock.  You can get them 50 lb rated or 75 lbs.  I have them for several things on the walls.  Fast and easy and no screwdrivers, etc.

  8. Your local hardware store should have picture hangers that are made for hanging heavier items.

Here is the brand that we use, we get them at Home Depot.
