I have red hair and gray eyes. yes both are rare and together almost impossible, but my dad is the same. My mom has brown hair and eyes. How did i get the more recessive genes in both? (yes i have ghost pale skin)

wikipedia says:

hair- "Approximately 1% to 2% of the human population has red hair.[2][3] It occurs more frequently (between 2% and 6% of the population) in northern and western Europeans, and their descendants, and at lower frequencies throughout other parts of Europe, Asia and Africa. Red hair appears in people with two copies of a recessive gene on chromosome 16 which causes a change in the MC1R protein. It is associated with fair skin color, freckles, and sensitivity to ultraviolet light"

eyes- "Gray eyes have less melanin than blue eyes, even though they are considered a darker shade of blue (like blue-green)." "Visually, gray eyes often tend to appear to change between the shades of blue, green and gray. This is said to be influenced by the lighting and the surroundings

  1. Okay, I agree, you are special.

Enjoy what you are ...dont worry too much about how and where you got it from....there might be some unwanted surprises, babes.

  2. bada hai, bahut bada hai

  3. ok this has nothing to do with botany.

    The answer is simple:

Your mother carries both the recessive genes for gray eyes and red hair therefore in combination with ur father's gray eyes and red hair you were produced.... if my basic genetics knowledge is correct, every time ur parents have a child there is a 25% chance that they will also have red hair and gray eyes
