I've been running every morning this week and today after 5 days of running 2 miles a day, I can barely walk. What is the best way to care for my leg?

  1. I'm going out on a limb and saying, "Rest it."

Stop running, but stretch more and drink more water.  You could be tight and dehydrated.

  2. I would wait a couple of days to give your legs some rest. Then I would just run 3 times a week till your body is used to the added stress (its good stress). Make sure to stretch for 5 to 15 minutes and take it easy for a week or two. then start building on the miles and run hills.

  3. I'm guessing your muscles haven't been used like this is a while.  The soreness is normal and, even if you keep running, should get much better in a week or so.  Make sure to stretch for 5-10 minutes (at least) immediately after your run.

Also, make sure to drink plenty of fluids; dehydration will only make things worse.

And I agree with the answer above me... take 800mg of ibuprofen (advil).  It will definitely help and it is safe.

    Hang in there... good luck!

  4. An easy to remember saying is RICE.  It stand for rest, ice, compression, elevation.

  5. you should rest on wednesday and friday and take a really easy slow jog its proven that running good will improve your speed and endurance but its also proven that rest in between will also help you recover

  6. Take at least 800 milligrams of ibuprofin.  It will act as an anti-inflamitory...and take it easy for a day or two!
