Their pet died over the weekend is it appropriate to get a card saying something like "I'm sorry for your loss" or is just saying that in person better?

  1. Please get her a card. They make many just for pet loss, even specific to the type of pet. It would be a wonderful gesture. Dealing with the loss of a pet can bring a HUGE sense of grief and sadness for many people. When my cat died, I really appreciated the notes and cards I received.

  2. I think a card would be very nice.

  3. Hello

When people loss pets it can be hard as others can minimalise it as it is not a person.

You can talk to her, let her know that your 'door' is open etc.

Maybe at a later date you can buy her a helium balloon & let it go with a note attached with love to pet or even a photo frame for a pic etc.

    Sadhara

  4. Get her a gift certificate to Petco.

  5. A card is not "overkill".  It lets the person know that you are not acting like their loss is "no big deal".  Also, letting her know in person is always nice, and don't try to dismiss it by saying "it was only a pet" or any other ignorant statements like that.

  6. Yeah i agree, sending a card would be overkill. Just be supportive at work. If they seem really sad and depressed just try your best to make them feel better. Not much else is required.

  7. put yourself in your coworker's shoes and do whatever you think he/she would want.  think about it from their point of view.

  8. You can get a card.  They now make cards exclusively for people who lost a pet.

  9. Although I suppose the card would be a nice gesture, I would think it to be overkill. Saying it person should suffice. I've never heard of this over a pet.

If not have her pet stuffed, and she can have it forever.
