  1. How "aging" IS your father?

Computer programming jobs aren't real easy to find these days, although Seattle is a lot better area to be looking than many other areas.  If he has fairly recent experience in current terchnologies, he can probably find something - he should check out contracting agencies.  If his expertise is in something like COBOL and CICS, he'll have a very hard time since while those still exist, they aren't used very many places any more.

  2. AARP might be helpful

    SeniorJobBank.org

Workforce center as part of the Economic Security Dept of the State

  3. Try hirearetiree.com, local SCORE office (www.score.org), internet job boards, and if disabled at all try the handicap and disabled organizations in the area. They usually no where to apply or get help.

  4. So you are 16, that makes your dad what, 40?

There are a ton of jobs for computer programmers in Seattle;  It just depends on what computer language your dad can write. Does he know C#, .NET, XML, SQL? if so, he can write his own ticket.

If he knows an older more arcane language, such as COBOL: or CICS then he will have to either chase the only two companies that use the big old stuff: Boeing and Paccar; or he should send his resume to Volt - they are a big head hunter in the Seattle area.

Finding part time programming work is a lot harder to do than full time work.
