She has been overweight for a while now, has very low self-esteem, and it's starting to worry me because she is getting older.

  1. if you go grocery shopping with her try to encourage her to buy more fruit  and veggies.

eat more fruit and veggies yourself; when she sees what you`re eating it may encourage her to eat healthier.

baking and grilling meat is better than fried.

she may like the taste of 2% milk better than skim.

don`t pay money to join a health club until exercising on her own or with you becomes a part of her regular routine--many times people can accomplish a lot without paying for a membership.

start with simple exercises--walking is a great way to start, do leg-lifts while sitting in a chair, use unopened soup cans as low-cost weights,

when watching TV get up and walk in place when commercials come on, etc.

people can get frustrated if they jump into an exercise program that`s too advanced--start out slowly.

get out of the house--go to the library, church, to a movie, to the zoo, go window shopping, get her to move around.

if you have a few dollars to spare buy or rent "Sweatin` To The Oldies" with Richard Simmons--some people may think he`s hokey, but he`s very motivating, his program works, and he doesn`t push overweight people to do exercises that are too advanced or physically demanding.

if you can spare the time to work out with her, at least in the beginning,

she stands a good chance to lose weight and be healthier.

they say it takes approximately 30 days of performing an activity to make it a habit..........

  2. tell her:

Eat several small meals instead of three big ones......drink plenty of water and no soda........And dont eat 3 hours b4 bedtime......

When all else fails ...try hte Lil jack workout http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKCGe2Ezr...

  3. depending on her health insurance and health problems.....maybe she should look into weightloss surgery.  Good luck!!!!!!!!!!  I lost 250 lbs and because I had shattered my leg a yr before  and was in a wheelchair...within a yr and a half lost the weight and can walk again.  If she has it...make sure she works out because the skin will hang...I toned up so well....no one believes I was ever big unless I show them a picture.  Email me if I can help............My son was my reason.I knew he would have no life if he was taking care of me.  I also knew I would not see him graduate if I didn't lose the weight.

  4. excercise with her, you guys can be like workout partners. Encourage her and she will encourage you.

Start with jogging or walking in the park.

  5. Slim-Fast ,my mom use to drink it..and i would always sneak some. i never did and neither did my mom and she drank them constant.

  6. If you want, suggest Weight Watchers to her. My mom lost over 60 pounds on that, and she felt so great about it. And offer to take walks or workout with her. She'll stay on track if someone is supporting her.
