Question:

How do I hide under-table storage?

I have a large, rectangular wooden table in my home office that I use for additional workspace and storage. I'm interested in creating some sort of skirt to run along the front and side of the table to hide the storage underneath, but I have no sewing machine. I'd thought of hanging 10-15 overlapping fabric panels or just making one long skirt (both using no-sew hemming glue), but I'm not sure what would look best. Any advice would be great!

  1. Small curtain  and rod maybe??

  2. You don't need a machine to sew just a bit of patience.(People were making curtains and clothes long before Mr Singer invented Hire Purchase).

Make hems top and bottom and slip a spring wire in the top one secured to eyets. (or ties/velcro etc). You will need to be able to launder from time to time). Make one for each side that you can see and there you go. If a skimpy fabric you should gather - a heavier one you might be able to get away with a flat, tailored panel although it might hang better if lined.

  3. You could make the panel or panels using the fabric glue and then attach velcro with the adhesive already on it to the edge of the table and the fabric panels. Get a small spool of matching thread and a needle and tack the velcro to the fabric to be more secure. Just unvelcro to wash or to return to normal table.

  4. Just make one long skirt and wrap it around. You can also get double sided velcro so you can remove it to wash it. Glue won't allow you to remove it...
